Mathew McConaughey’s been doing a lot of explaining lately. First, about kisses. Kate Hudson recent revealed that she remembers McConaughey in Fool’s Gold as her worst onscreen kiss, but that’s not his fault, McConaughey told Yahoo Entertainment. “Here’s the scene: You’ve just jumped from the helicopter. You’re in the middle of the ocean. You go under the water, so on action, go into the water and then come up out of the water like you’re gasping for air,” McConaughey defended himself, “You’re glad to be alive! Then you look at each other and you swim to each other and [go] into an embrace.”

Second, about politics. The US media had a minor heart attack when the Interstellar actor went on the Hugh Hewitt Show on Tuesday November 17, and seemed to announce political aspirations. “Are you ever going to run for anything?” Hewitt asked. “I don’t know. I mean, that wouldn’t be up to me,” McConaughey replied, “It would be up to the people more than it would me… Look, politics seems to be a broken business to me right now. And when politics redefines its purpose, I could be a hell of a lot more interested.“What platform you, ask, would the Academy Award-winning actor run on? “I want to get behind personal values to rebind our social contracts with each other as Americans, as people again,” McConaughey told Hewitt. (Before you ask, no, McConaughey still has not developed a comprehensive health care plan.)
